A man is on-the-run after assaulting a taxi driver, ripping the meter box from the cab and punching out a window, during a violent attack north of Brisbane overnight.

About 3am the man caught a taxi from Eatons Hill and was on his way to Geebung when he began verbally abusing and assaulting the driver and demanding money.
The driver pulled over in nearby Albany Creek where the passenger turned his attention to damaging the vehicle itself before fleeing empty-handed.
Police investigations are continuing.
