ASJC event manager Mark Hopkinson said that he'd personally issued an invitation to the Duke of York, who is planning to be in Australia during that time to promote the Australian leg of his Pitch@Palace global event, which is aimed at identifying the next generation of entrepreneurs.
Prince Andrew's staff are now examining a timetable of his movements in Australia before accepting the ASJC's invitation.
The Duke of York's sister, Anne, and his niece, Zara Tindall (nee Phillips), have represented the UK in the equestrian discipline at the Olympic Games.
Tindall became the first royal Olympic medallist, a moment made even prouder for her mother as the Princess Royal had the honour of placing a silver medal around her daughter's neck.
Pitch@Palace events are scheduled for September 20 at RMIT University Melbourne and then will continue in Queensland before ending at Macquarie University in Sydney on September 27.
The Australian show jumping championships have a long-established, 57 year history. Many riders who have won the championships have gone on to represent Australia at the Olympics and world equestrian games.
The 2017 championships, boasting record prize money of $150,000, will be held over five days from September 13 to September 17 at the Werribee-based National Equestrian Centre.
