Mount Isa in total had 56 athletes in contention, 28 club registered athletes and a further 28 school bases athletes.
15 of the club athletes were also representing the for the Mount Isa schools team contending for a place in the North West Regional team to represent at the schools state championships.
The club athletes finished the weekend with 55 first placings, 29 seconds and 24 thirds.
They broke five carnival records and six Isa club records and PB’ed in nearly half their events.
Mount Isa took out all four Carnival age champions in Alli Thomson, Corey Stewart, Patrick Baker and school athlete Shyniah Heness.
All but one of the five carnival records were broken in the field.
Seven year old Scarlett Venz, better known for her speed on the track showed her diversity adding 13 centimetres to her age groups shot put record and also adding to the Isa club record as well.
Breanna ‘Cannon’ Waerea lived up to her nickname taking Gold in both the open and 15yrs shot put events.
Her 10.05m throw with the open weight netted her a club record and her 11.04m in Shot Put and 32.26m in Discus in 15yrs gave her both the Carnival and club records.
Keeping it in the family 12yr old Rico Waerea added two centimetres to his High Jump PB which was already over his head height to take out both the club and Carnival records with his 1.48m leap.
James Stewart’s 13.09s 100m was well off his best but still enough to take the carnival record for the 30 to 49yr group. James’s partner Simona Reynolds also scored herself a club record for her efforts in Long Jump.
Cleaning up on the medal stakes were Alli Thomson, Sienna Hilton, Rico Waerea, Breanna Waerea, Patrick Baker and James Stewart who all received between four and six gold medals each.
Topping the gold rush was Lachy McCoy scoring seven gold from eight events.
A special mention needs to go to Molly English who while not running a personal best still managed to take gold in her 1500m race.
A heavy and uneven track made it hard going to achieve PB on the track but many athletes dug deep to score PB’s in at least half their events.
They were Tyler TeWani, Riley Eggmolesse, Luke Hales, Lewis McCoy, Connor Baker, Breanna Waerea, Patrick Baker and Dean English.
The top three performers would arguably be Remmy English, four from five, Corey Stewart seven from 11 and Kadea O’Donnell seven from nine.
The next major away event on the athletics calendar will be the North Queensland Championships in Townsville on the 22nd to the 24th of September.
Nomination forms will be available shortly.
