Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Yvette D’Ath said community groups in the Mount Isa region would benefit from the grants in Round 93 of the fund to help improve community facilities and services that vital community groups provide.
“Cloncurry Kindergarten Association will receive $35,000 to upgrade their facility, Mount Isa School of Dance will get $35,000 to install air conditioning, and Normanton Queensland Country Women’s Association will get $35,000 to upgrade their facility,” Mrs D’Ath said.
“This is very exciting news for the region. I am very happy that these groups will be receiving these funds, so they can continue the work they do in our community.”
Mrs D’Ath said these community groups were vital to the region.
“We recognise how vital the work is for these local groups, and that is why we contribute millions of dollars every round as part of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund,” she said.
Mrs D’Ath said that applications for the next round of funding close on 31 August.
“I encourage any not-for-profit organisations to get in quickly and apply before the deadline.”
Mrs D’Ath said 589 not-for-profit organisations across Queensland would benefit from grants in this round.
“This fund Queensland’s single largest one-off grants program. It distributes $53 million a year to our vital community services,” Mrs D’Ath said.
“These grants are worth between $500 and $35,000, and can be applied for online.”
