Boasting more than 450 active club members, MIANA President Mel Allen said it was the biggest year of netball the association has seen.
“We have attracted more players, teams, supporters and a new club since the re-surface of the courts and a new grandstand in 2016,” Allen said.
With 10 games and 20 teams competing over the weekend, the best of MIANA netball was displayed within four divisions in the Junior competition and six divisions in the Senior competition.
The new netball club “Te Whanau” had five teams in the grand final competition securing a win in each division they competed in.
Division 1 Senior Grand final Te Whanau Fusion vs Tigers game was the highlight of the night, with Te Whanau Fusion securing a final season win of 40 – 25.
Club Chairperson Pania Osborne said. said she was extremely proud of all club members for their sportsmanship, on and off the court.
“We are thankful to Mount Isa Netball and existing clubs for the opportunity to showcase netball talent from all age groups and levels,” Osborne said.
