The LNP has backed Mount Isa jobs and small businesses by forcing the Palaszczuk Government into an embarrassing backflip, with Labor having to make major amendments to proposed trading hour reforms.

Labor’s laws were poorly drafted and would have led to price hikes for Mount Isa shoppers, less job security and fewer opportunities for young people to get a job.
Instead, the LNP delivered trading hours certainty for small business, particularly in the regions.
It means more competition that keeps a lid on prices for shoppers and backing local business and local jobs.
That's why our changes were supported by independent grocers such as IGA and other similar shops.
We saved them from being swallowed up by Coles and Woolworths.
We listened to their concerns and acted to get them a fairer deal.
The LNP has protected local jobs and delivered trading hours certainty for Queensland small businesses.
Only the LNP has a plan to support small business to create jobs across the state and Build a Better Queensland.

More on Same Sex Marriage
As the marriage equality debate continues towards an opinion survey, may I offer one comment to any person of religious faith.
If you say "I will not do that because it's against my religion" I might not agree with you, but you will have my complete support.
If, however, you say "YOU can't do that because it's against my religion", I will fight you all the way.

Public ban of full-face coverings
The poll showing wide support for the banning of the burqa was a wakeup call for many politicians, proving what was already obvious to many Australians. It proved that I am not alone in understanding that full-face coverings, like the burqa and the niqab, are objects of oppression, symbols of extremism and an obvious security threat to our nation.
As I raised awareness of this issue for those who feel constrained by political correctness and unrepresented on the floor of parliament, my opponents have already sought to blame me for crimes committed by individuals using full face covering.
This is a disgusting political game. Are those talking about domestic violence to raise awareness accused of encouraging it? No and those who have accused me of encouraging crimes, even future acts of terrorism, still owe me an apology.
Many Australians live in fear of raising a legitimate concern about oppression, discrimination or security because they will be howled down.
My political opponents have tried to obscure my arguments saying it was only for security. Following my appearance wearing the burqa I delivered a speech in parliament and spoke about the barrier to social cohesion, and relationship formation necessary for a harmonious community, that full-face coverings in public inflict on the wearer.
I spoke about the many women across the world who have oppressive garments forced upon them by men in their family.
The burqa is not a religious requirement of Islam but has come to be a symbol of fundamental Islam and extremism.
I also spoke about the growing political pressure shutting down conversation in this country, with the Muslim vote clustered in 15 Federal parliamentary seats restraining any proper debate on the issue.
Given the cost of the forthcoming plebiscite on same-sex marriage, the Government should take the opportunity to add the question about full-face covering in public.
