Airport owner Queensland Airports Limited has started the new financial year strongly, with growth in passenger numbers across its four airports (along with Gold Coast, Townsville and Longreach).
The four airports achieved total growth of 2.3 per cent in July 2017, compared to the same month in the prior year.
Mount Isa did better still with a three percent growth year on year as 16,718 passengers travelled during the month compared to 16,718 in July 2016.
QAL CEO Chris Mills said the results were pleasing across the board.
“While (Mount Isa and Longreach) airports are still well below their peaks of several years ago, we are encouraged by these positive signs,” Mr Mills said.
