The Dockers and Gold Coast were the only two clubs not to get a player short-listed for the AA squad which will be trimmed to 22 on Wednesday.

Even wooden spooners Brisbane managed to get one player nominated with Dayne Zorko one of 14 midfielders selected in the team.

There was no room in the team for Dockers ball magnet Lachie Neale, whose 2017 form was slightly down on last year's when he was selected in the 40-man squad.

Fremantle skipper Nat Fyfe insisted he's not surprised by his All-Australian snub, saying he had an average AFL season.

"Definitely not unlucky at all. I've had a wishy-washy year," Fyfe told reporters on Monday.

"I missed 12 months, and that was enough to put me back amongst the pack.

"But I'm starting to figure out what I'm capable of again. The last eight to 10 games I've figured out how to play footy again, and understand my body, and know what's required."

Fremantle fans shouldn't feel too aggrieved though with no players having a standout season. Brad Hill was good early but faded as the year went on while Neale and new captain Nat Fyfe weren't able to edge out the likes of Patrick Dangerfield, Dustin Martin and Tom Mitchell.

However, while Fremantle failed to get a nomination, cross-town rivals West Coast had three players picked with Josh Kennedy, Elliot Yeo and Jeremy McGovern all short-listed.

McGovern, who is regarded as one of the best intercept marks in the AFL, made the All-Australian team last year for the first time, while Kennedy was named in both the 2015 and 2016 teams.

It's Yeo's first nod after a standout season for the Eagles running off half back.

Adelaide lead the way with eight players picked in the squad, with the Crows finishing the home-and-away season on top of the ladder.

A whopping 26 players could get their first ever All-Australian guernsey, while 12 players from last year are jostling for back-to-back selections.
