As revealed by Fairfax Media, Canberra Raiders giant Dave Taylor's is having second thoughts about joining the Toronto Wolfpack because of the distance it would put between him and his young daughters in Brisbane.

Taylor signed a three-year deal about a month ago, with the option for a fourth, which was reportedly worth close to $1 million.

The Raiders couldn't compete with that offer back then, but Raiders coach Ricky Stuart said he would sit down with Taylor following their season-ending clash against the Melbourne Storm in Melbourne on Saturday to discuss the situation.

After his first half of the season was cruelled by injury and illness, Taylor's played 10 games for the Raiders and displayed the form that can make him one of the most dangerous forwards in the NRL.

He's played the last eight games and was averaging almost 70 metres from less than 20 minutes per game.

If the Raiders wanted to keep the 29-year-old for next season they'd need to find room in next year's proposed $9.4 million salary cap to lift their initial offer, believed to be about $130,000.

Canberra Raiders captain Jarrod Croker said he'd love to have Taylor stay with the Green Machine for 2018.

"We'd love to have him around. Everyone has seen what Dave's done over the last six to eight weeks," he told the ABC.

"He's got his injuries from the start of the year right and has been one of our better players over that period of time.

"I'm not sure where Dave's at with all that or what his thoughts are, but I know the boys all love having him around.

"He's a good fella and a bit of a laugh and a larrikin and he's playing really good footy as well.

"The boys all enjoy his company and he's a good mate of ours now. If he does want to stay then the boys would love to have him here as well."
