Tully's Gungahlin Jets are gunning for back-to-back premierships while Ross' Queanbeyan Tigers have stunned the competition in a dream run to the decider at Greenway Oval on Saturday.

The pair played together for the Giants in the inaugural AFLW competition this year and Ross says returning to club land wasn't difficult - the Tigers are like a family to her.

"I've loved every minute," Ross said.

"Going away and playing for the Giants, I definitely learned a lot and brought a lot back to Queanbeyan, but I love playing for the Tigers.

"[I love] the whole club's culture and the people within the club that you play for. You don't just play football - you play it with a team, a family."

Tully is looking to cap off a dream season that saw her capture her second straight Mary Ann Bainrot Medal as the competition's best and fairest.

But the Jets star is adamant individual awards would all pale in comparison to winning a second straight flag - and she's keen to get the better of her GWS teammate to top it off.

"That's all I'm here for really, I'd rather win the grand final than win the best and fairest any day," Tully said.

"It would cap off an awesome year. It was a bit surprising to go back to back with that, especially with the quality of some of the players in the competition this year.

"It's the usual with Ella, we'll go hard on the ball and at each other but once we get off the park we'll be friends as always."

When they held the AFLW premiership cup with Adelaide Crows coach Bec Goddard at a promotional shoot in April, little did Ross and Tully know they'd be battling for the Canberra version a few months down the track.

Goddard will coach the Allies in the AFL State of Origin clash and says it will be "really exciting to watch Britt and Ella go head to head".

But she wishes the women's fixture wasn't lumped in the 9:30am timeslot at Greenway Oval, effectively making it the curtain raiser to the men's fourth and third grade games.

Goddard was named the coach in AFL Canberra's women's team of the decade during the week and says making the women's game the premier fixture on the day must happen to allow the game to prosper.

"I just think the tides are changing," Goddard said.

"We've got some terrific AFLW players playing in the competition. It's a really great competition and it's going to get even better.

"I want to see the Canberra girls succeed, I'm from there and it was a huge part of my life. I want to see it become the best competition.

"But unfortunately showcasing it at 9:30 in the morning at Greenway, it's not going to be quite the success that it should be."

Sunday: Rising Stars - Ainslie Tricolours v Marist College at 9:30am, Second Grade - Ainslie Tricolours v Queanbeyan Tigers at 12pm, First Grade - Belconnen Magpies v Ainslie Tricolours at 3pm. All matches at Manuka Oval.
