Marist enter the clash red-hot favourites on the back of an unbeaten season but must get past an Eddie's outfit who downed an unbeaten Daramalan College in the same game last year, and are gunning for a fifth consecutive title.
The clash will feature four Australian Schoolboys and Barbarians representatives after the ACT broke through for its first national title in 29 years in July.
Lincoln Smith, Seamus Smith and Tom Iles make up the Marist contingent, while 16-year-old livewire Brendan Jimenez will lead the St Edmund's attack from fullback.
Marist won their two clashes this season 25-7 and 37-0 as the college chases its first championship since 2006 and coach Paul Mead said the success had not come overnight.
"This is just one of those special years where you get a combinations of two age groups and we've been building towards this for probably two years now," Mead said.
"The boys have got a great healthy respect for Eddies, they're always able to win games they're not expecting to the win and that's why they play in so many grand finals.
"The favourites tag is probably deserving but I don't think the boys will read too much into it, it's about sticking to the game plan and getting the job done.
"They're the two biggest rugby schools in Canberra and each year brings their own rivalry as they come up through the years and these teams have always battled it out, so it will be a very good game."
Despite the pair of losses, St Edmund's coach Tim McArthur is confident his men can cause a boilover for the second straight year.
"The boys are very aware of the ability that Marist pose, they've been the form team all season, so the boys are aware of the task ahead but quietly confident," McArthur said.
"I think it'll be a real tight finish or one team will run away it, that's been the tale of the tape. If you're a betting man go with the odds, but in these big games St Edmund's have a history of going close.
"Marist haven't been in a final in a while so we're expecting a huge crowd."
