SAX and oboe player Andy Mackay is the live musician of the weekend for the Overlander Hotel.

The mostly London based founding member of Roxy Music plays in the bar from Thursday to Saturday nights.

He has recently worked as a sax player with recording artists including Phil Manzanera, Brian Eno and Tomoyasu Hotei.

The Buffs Club has a different DJ entertaining on Friday and Saturday nights.

Brisbane based DJ Matila gets the dancers to the floor from 9pm to 3am on these nights.

“The crowd loves what I love when it comes to music,” he said. “A mixture of house, RnB, hip hop, future bass and trap, crammed into one or two hours each set.”

It’s a more casual affair at the Irish Club this weekend, but of course bingo will draw in the competitive enthusiasts. Eyes down for bingo is 8pm on Friday. On Saturday and Sunday the bingo starts 1.30pm.
