It is understood the independent member for Cairns Rob Pyne signed Petros Khalesirad into the Queensland Parliament on Monday.

Mr Khalesirad had previously pleaded not guilty to stalking member for Keppel Brittany Lauga, with the case adjourned until December.

It was alleged the Rockhampton freelance journalist harassed Ms Lauga online.

Mr Wellington said on Monday a person who allegedly "posed a risk" to another member was signed in by another MP.

He threatened to ban MPs from inviting guests into Parliament if they broke the rules.

"I'm currently following up with that member as to their state of knowledge regarding this person," Mr Wellington told Parliament on Tuesday.

"The second aspect is that I have been informed that this person and another guest were left unattended by the member who had signed in the guests."

Mr Wellington said breaches of security procedures were very grave because of the risk it posed to members and staff.

"I am currently investigating the matters that arose yesterday in more depth," he said.

"I will consider forwarding any breaches to the ethics committee for its consideration or I may also stop particular members who are in breach from bringing in guests to Parliament for a period of time."

Mr Khalesirad told Fairfax Media that Mr Pyne signed him in to Parliament on Monday and said he was with other people including two lawyers, but that the member for Cairns was with him at all times.

Mr Khalesirad said he was never a risk to anyone.

Attempts were made to reach Mr Pyne for comment on Tuesday.
