Former Kookaburra Glenn Turner will be the Canberra Lakers' mentor when he leads a new-look side into battle at the Australian Hockey League in Perth at the end of the month.

Turner and Hockeyroo Edwina Bone will captain the Canberra representative sides, with selectors expanding the selection zone to include Goulburn, Crookwell, Wagga and Albury.
Kookaburras goalkeeper Andrew Charter will bolster the Lakers' squad while Turner's years of experience will be crucial to ushering in five new players.
Lakers coach Robert Apps said: "We have drawn a tough pool with NSW, WA and India all in our pool but we have a chance to start well early and get ourselves deep into the tournament.
"We are a better side than last year and we were close to making the finals then so we have to like our chances this year."
Australian star Bone will join twin sister Meredith in the Canberra Strikers team, while Anna Flanagan will also play as she continues her bid to win back a spot in the Hockeyroos squad.
The Strikers will also boast German star Jana Teschke as well as New Zealand representative Amy Robinson.
The Lakers will hope to improve on the last two seasons, narrowly missing out on a semi finals berth, while the Strikers will look to go one better on a fourth place finish in 2016.
