Thieves targeted the elderly in independent home accommodation at Alex Pavusa Dr.

There were four burglaries in five days at elderly accommodation in Alex Pavusa Drive, Mount Isa.

The area contains a home facility for the elderly who live in independent villa accommodation.

On August 30 at 7:50pm offenders cut a hole in a fly screen of a residence in the street and unlocked a back door with a stick. They stole $150 in cash and a mobile phone. On September 1 at 9:30pm offenders entered a home and stole money, car keys and house keys. On September 3 at 8:30pm offenders entered a home and stole a walking stick, a wifi box and money and 10pm offenders entered a home via the back door and stole cigarettes.

Police are liaising with residents about home security and the importance of locking screen doors with their keys to prevent any further break and enters.

Police are patrolling this location frequently and continuing with their investigations in relation to this matter.
