A UNIQUE fundraising effort led by LJ Hooker could become a prank among Mount Isa friends.
The local real estate will be planting up to 60 posters of Humpty Dumpty in residential front lawns, and another 60 in front of businesses.
Locals can nominate their friend’s property as the target for Humpty Dumpties for 24 hours. It cost $30 for a residential property and $110 for a business.
The fundraiser lasts a week from Wednesday, September 20.
The money raised will go to the Humpty Dumpty Foundation which uses funds to buy medical equipment in paediatric, maternity and emergency wards across Australia.
LJ Hooker Mount Isa principal Sherrie Tuppurainen said that people can nominate a friend by contacting the office by phone or email. The real estate will first need to check with the landowner to see if it was okay to place the Humpty Dumptys on the lawn.
“If they have got issue with it we won’t go on site,” Mrs Tuppurainen said.
Locals could also pay ‘anti-Humpty Dumpty insurance’ to protect their lawns from being nominated. The funds are added to the cause.
“So we promise not to put Humpty Dumpties on your lawn for a small charitable donation,” she said. “We’re nice. It will buy you immunity for the whole week.”
Mrs Tuppurainen was uncertain how much money the fundraiser will collect. “A $1000 would be lovely. $500 we would be happy with. Any money helps because it is for a really good cause.”
It was possible there will be too many nominations for a short period of time. LJ Hooker would reach out to the first property owner nominated.
“Bearing in mind we will contact the people that have been Humpty Dumptied to see if they are happy with that and obviously if they are not happy with that we will have to get back to the people and say ‘sorry guys, not going to happen,’” Mrs Tuppurainen said.
“We might have a few spaces because of that.
“Hopefully everyone will see it for the fun as it is intended.”
