The KAP said air travellers in the two Gulf communities have been left in limbo after the 12-month trial period of subsidised airfares through Rex Airlines finished at the end of June.
“I call on the Palaszczuk Government to extend this scheme to these remote communities as a matter of urgency”, Mr Katter said.
“Affordable air travel is vital to industry, local business and families in the far north of the state.”
Mr Katter said members of the government have privately assured him the trial would be extended.
“I hope they can convince the premier to make the announcement sooner rather than later,” he said.
“Every day that locals in these small, isolated towns go without these services sees job opportunities and investments move elsewhere.”
