With yellow and black coursing through his veins, calling his only son Richmond might just be the best thing John Carr ever did.

But he's not 100 per cent sure. Not yet.
"It's like I am putting a curse on him, but, hopefully, if they win they can change [Richmond's] name to something positive," Mr Carr said.
On Saturday, Richmond (the team) will face the Greater Western Sydney Giants for a place in the grand final.
And Mr Carr and Richmond (the six-year-old boy) are hoping they'll be at the 'G to cheer the Tigers to victory, and a place in the grand final for the first time in 35 long, bleak years.
"Because Richmond has been so unsuccessful, a lot of people have told me it's not fair that I called [him] Richmond," Mr Carr said.
"I just want to see my son, Richmond, and the football club succeed, but I'll still love them [if they don't].
"It won't change how I feel."
The club last made it to the grand final in 1982, when they lost to Carlton.
"I am incredibly proud and excited to see them finally get to this point," said Mr Carr, who's a primary school teacher.
"I have sat through years and years of terrible losses, it is making all that worthwhile. But I am also so nervous and anxious, it is quite literally affecting my sleep."
Neither Mr Carr or his children have seen Richmond come anywhere near to winning the flag.
"The last time we won a grand final was in 1980 and I was born in 1981," Mr Carr said.
"My dad saw them win five premierships and I have grown up seeing them win nothing."
He said it was difficult being a Richmond supporter amid all the disappointments.
"There are so many times when you do want to give up, but it's connected so strongly to the family," Mr Carr said.
"There is something there that keeps you going back."
There's a proud Tigers tradition in the Carr household.
"My family has lived in Richmond since the 1850's, so I am a fifth-generation Richmond member and my kids are sixth generation," Mr Carr said.
"My great-great-grandfather, Maurice Cronin senior, was the vice-president of the club so I had no choice really. That's what my family did. My dad followed them."
One the father-of-three's earliest memories is going to see Richmond play North Melbourne at the MCG in 1986 as a wide-eyed five-year-old.
"I remember getting my first Richmond jumper, and Richmond won," Mr Carr said.
"I just remember being at the MCG. it was a night game and I remember the atmosphere being amazing.
"It was so much to take in ... Richmond supporters made a lot of noise. From the first time I went, I just fell in love with football and with Richmond."
Since then, wins have been far and few in between, but the family tradition of going to the game has continued, though his eldest, 16-year-old April, supports the AFL Women's Western Bulldogs.
Mr Carr, his son, Richmond, and daughter, Molly, 10, were at the 'G last Friday when their team defeated Geelong - their first win in a final in 16 years.
Having his children come along to support also helped him get through the ups and downs, with the father-daughter duo even doing a podcast, Dad and Mog to discuss all things footy.
