RNTBC stands for Registered Native Title Bodies Corporate and the corporation is the Native Title representative body of the Traditional Owners of the Mount Isa area.

The body held its annual general meeting on Saturday September 2, 2017.

At the AGM a new Board of Directors was elected.

The new Board is comprised of the following people:

• Tara Bell

• Kurt Caulton

• Valencia Craigie

• Dionne Connolly

• Doresey Hill

• Jenny Watts

New Board chairperson Dionne Connolly said each and every one of the newly appointed directors had made a commitment to progress the aspirations of the Kalkadoon People who elected them.

“I am personally honoured that the Kalkadoon people trust me enough to give me such a huge responsibility [representing the Native Title Body Corporate]” Ms Connolly said.

The new Board acknowledged the work carried out by the previous directors of the corporation.

“We are very cognisant of the benchmarks they set while performing their duties over the past two years,” Ms Connolly said.

The current Directors are familiarising themselves with their areas of responsibility and portfolios with the assistance of QSNTS and the co-operation from the previous Board of Directors.

It is understood that an Elders Council along with other reference groups will be established to support the Board while they perform the duties assigned to them for the purpose of advancing the strategic goals of the Kalkadoon Nation.

The Kalkadoon Native Title Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC was established on November 15, 2011 to address the issues of poverty, sickness, destitution, serious economic disadvantage, distress, dispossession, suffering and misfortune amongst the Kalkadoon People of North West Queensland.
