Figures released by Australian Community Media (the Fairfax group which the North West Star belongs to) shows the North West Star had its best ever month breaking the million page impressions a month barrier for just the second time.
People clicked on the North West Star’s website 1,153,301 times that month with 98,089 unique browers in that time, beating the previous record of just over a million set in April.
It sat in 21st place in Australia for all of ACM’s titles and the Chris Burns photo gallery “Photos from the Mailman Party” was the 19th most popular story in the network across the country for the month with over 165,000 page impressions.
Given there are just 35,000 people in North West Queensland it represents an amazing result.
The numbers have been boosted by the rodeos that took place in August but these are still huge numbers that bode well for the long term future of our news organisation.
It shows the North West Star punches well above its weight when it comes to online readership.

And that’s it from me for a couple of weeks.
I’m away on holidays, catching up with friends and family in Brisbane for a week, then driving north for a few days at Cairns and Mission Beach.
If you are looking for editorial assistance in my absence contact Chris Burns until Tuesday September 26.
Then after that, Melody Labinsky will be in town to be acting editor until my return on Tuesday, October 9.
Melody is our digital journalist based in Toowoomba and she is a star performer, one of the main reasons our website is doing so well.
However she says she is looking forward to getting away from the still chilly Darling Downs to catch some of our North West Queensland warmth – both weather-wise and people-wise.
She’ll be here for a couple of weeks in Mount Isa so make her welcome if you see her around – Derek Barry
