Brisbane City Council is hoping the state's ID scanning laws will not be "too bureaucratic" and deter the 65,000 people expected to attend the Valley Fiesta in October.

This year's Valley Fiesta, the 21st to be held, will be the first to be impacted by the use of ID scanners in Safe Night Precincts, which include Fortitude Valley.
Cr Quirk said he hoped the crowds would continue to show up, despite the new laws.
"I just hope the laws aren't too bureaucratic for people and they will continue to come," he said.
When asked if the council would inform attendees about the need to have their IDs scanned to enter a venue in the Valley precinct after 10pm, Cr Quirk said that was "a very good point".
"These laws are in place, they are in effect and so I think we ought to be doing that, making sure that we minimise any situation where people will be refused entry because they don't have ID," he said.
"So it's a point well made and we will ensure we do have that on material."
On Wednesday, Cr Quirk announced that more than 50 acts would perform at the event, including headliners The Jungle Giants and Fatman Scoop.
"The Jungle Giants are one of our favourite local talents and I'm delighted to bring them to our city's biggest street party, along with other local artists such as Velociraptor, The Jensens and Concrete Surfers," he said.
"The event will once again provide a fantastic platform for our city's emerging talent, with a live and local music competition and a new breakdance showcase."
Cr Quirk said the Valley Fiesta, which launched in 1997, had grown year on year and along with the crowds.
Up to 65,000 fans are expected to attend the two-day Valley Fiesta event held across three stages at Fortitude Valley on October 27 - 28.
