A controversial fraud squad fundraiser remains under police investigation months after its former boss left the service.

Former fraud squad head Brian Hay went on a year-long "career break" in 2015 but never returned to the service following a December 2016 report by the state's corruption watchdog criticising a program he was responsible for.
The Crime and Corruption Commission noted Project Synergy exposed the QPS to a significant fraud risk and was not transparent.
But it failed to find any evidence of criminal conduct by three fraud squad officers subjected to complaints about a controversial fundraising project, or any other officer involved.
The allegations had included misuse of funds and QPS resources, misuse of corporate credit cards and inappropriate travel practices.
In an August 2016 media statement, the CCC said while it "did not identify any criminal conduct by officers involved in Project Synergy", there were "sufficient grounds" for disciplinary action against one officer.
It identified a failure to comply with financial management practices and policies.
Fairfax Media has confirmed that officer was Mr Hay, who officially left the QPS in April.
Mr Hay, who joined IT company Unisys as its lead chief information security officer for Asia Pacific at the start of this year, declined to comment when the company was contacted on Friday.
The investigation was referred to the QPS to complete, along with another 20 allegations identified by the CCC, relating to possible procedural and policy breaches, not criminal conduct.
Last week, Fairfax Media put a series of questions to the QPS about the investigation into Project Synergy and whether Mr Hay faced any disciplinary action.
In response, the organisation said: "Matters regarding Project Synergy remain under investigation and as such, it would be inappropriate to comment further".
The QPS confirmed the organisation's Ethical Standards Command was still responsible for the investigation, with oversight by the CCC.
"Mr Hay left the Queensland Police Service in April 2017," a spokeswoman said, in a statement.
In February, he ran a workshop at the 2017 CISO Leaders Summit in Melbourne on the five compelling issues for security in the next five years.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Mr Hay started work at Unisys in February and was general manager of security at an unlisted multinational in the year and a half previously, encompassing the "career break".
