Thaiday, who was also dropped from the Queensland State of Origin side earlier in the year, took to Instagram on Tuesday night to express his disappointment over his perceived poor treatment by the Kangaroos hierarchy.

The 34-game Australian veteran wasn't part of the 24-man Kangaroos World Cup squad named on Tuesday morning, claiming he wasn't given the courtesy of a heads-up by Australian officials.

Roosters winger Blake Ferguson was the only player Meninga called to inform that he wasn't in the world cup squad, with the coach deciding against ringing James Tedesco because the Roosters-bound fullback had not represented his nation before.

That can't be said of Thaiday, however, who featured in last year's successful Four Nations campaign and was also in the Kangaroos side for this year's mid-season Test victory against New Zealand

"Aussie Aussie Aussie... No, No, No," Thaiday posted with a photo of him in an Australian jersey.

"So it's official - the end of my 2017 Rugby League year. Who would've thought this year would be the last time I played for both QLD and Australia. A bit of respect would've been nice ... to at least receive a phone call and learn about selection that way instead of through a leaked report from the media on last night's news.

"After dedicating more than 10 years wearing the Maroon and Green and Gold jersey, you'd expect to be treated with a bit more decency and respect. I guess not. Lucky I have one more year left at the @brisbanebroncos unless someone wants to shatter that dream too. What a rollercoaster of a year - Peace out 2017."

Former Test lock and his Queensland and Broncos teammate, Corey Parker, commented on Thaiday's post admitting "nothing surprises me anymore".

"Mate it's a real shame that's been the case," Parker commented on Instagram.

"It would not of been hard! However nothing surprises me anymore. You were a privilege to play alongside and a great friend!"
