For the first time in his three-year tenure as coach of Australia, Cheika has named all 15 players in the same positions from the week before.

Going back to 2014, never before has Cheika stuck solid with the same team in consecutive Tests.

"We've created a bit of depth," said Cheika when asked broadly how the team were faring halfway between World Cups. "It's up to them to perform well each week when they cross the line and be fully focused. It'll always change when players get an opportunity or maybe someone else is down. That's what demands consistent selection.

"I am pleased with the group of players we have got, knowing that we've still got a few players to come back in. We've got a good group here."

When told about the statistic regarding his constant chopping and changing, Cheika said: "Wow. Well, you're always being affected by injuries some weeks and then sometimes you try new combinations. We've been changing players and the mix of the squad around and before this campaign I said the base is here now."

The Wallabies have been blessed with minimal injuries on this tour and in the last month, with Adam Coleman the only starting player to be ruled out of a Test due to injury.

Australia's starting tight five from the Springboks Test - Scott Sio, Tatafu Polota-Nau, Sekope Kepu, Izack Rodda and Coleman - have been tasked once again to take it to a Pumas outfit with revenge on their mind after they were outclassed at the set-piece in Canberra.

Cheika believes the Pumas will come at the Wallabies in a different manner to what they did in the nation's capital in the last outing between the sides.

"There will be a slightly different plan around some of the set pieces in particular and where they will try and get some dominance over us," Cheika said. "You've got to watch out when they play around the rucks.

"It's always a challenging game, Australia [versus] Argentina, and there's always a lot of yards run, a lot of football played.

"We have a chance to finish second in the Rugby Championship. We've got to do our bit to make that happen and obviously we'd have preferred to finish first but we haven't played well enough to do that, so let's get the next best thing."

Winger Marika Koroibete has been given another chance after a fine performance in his first start for Australia in Bloemfontein.

"He deserves another opportunity," Cheika said. "He did a lot of good things. [There are] still a lot of things to polish up around the positional play, just getting that sorted out but I thought he did more than enough to get another selection."

The Wallabies have opted for an extra back on their bench, with Henry Speight coming onto the pine in place of Ned Hanigan, who drops out of the match-day 23 for the first time in 2017.

Australia have won 14 of their last 15 games against Argentina, including the last five.

Despite added distractions in years gone by, such as when lasers were shone in Bernard Foley's eyes in 2014, Cheika said the team would be completely focused on the task at hand.

"When you get the opportunity to play in Argentina they're very passionate fans and part of the challenge is trying to get them out of the picture early on if you can," Cheika said. "It's not always evident because whenever something happens positive for them, they're right behind their team and that's great. We love playing in that cauldron."

Meanwhile, the Pumas have made four changes to the side that played New Zealand last week.

Martin Landajo replaces injured halfback Tomas Cubelli, while Tomas Lezana comes in for Juan Manuel Leguizamon in the back row.

Second-rowers Matias Alemanno and Marcos Kremer have replaced Tomas Lavanini and Guido Petti.
