All train lines through Brisbane CBD are affected by scheduled maintenance this weekend, with buses replacing trains between Roma Street, Albion and Ferny Grove stations.
By mid-morning, Translink's Journey Planner, which provided details of the delays, was also crashing on some desktop computers, compounding problems.
The closure comes during the annual Brisbane Open House weekend, which is a free public festival offering behind-the-scenes access to Brisbane buildings.
According to the Translink website, customers should plan their journey in advance and allow an extra hour travel time, with the first train service on Monday to resume as normal.
Queensland Rail has been contacted for comment.
