A new store has opened in Mount Isa, providing safety products for mining companies and individuals.

Alliance Safety Group held their grand opening on Friday, and specialise in confined space, high-safety and rescue equipment.

The company isn’t a stranger to the town though; they have been travelling monthly to Mount Isa from their head office in Townsville.

Director Marten Zuhorn said they listened to feedback from customers and decided to establish a Mount Isa branch.

“About 50 per cent of our business area comes from Mount Isa and this region; we come to Mount Isa every month in a sales capacity,” he said.

“The local community has always said ‘we want to support local businesses and if you really want to do well in Mount Isa, you need to become a local and participate in the community’.”

The new store is located at 46 Barkly Highway.

Shane and Renee Vassallo have made the move to Mount Isa to manage the new branch.

Mr Zuhorn said they spent the past four months getting the building up and running. The bulk of the work was done themselves to bring costs down and they received plenty of support from their manufacturers.

Alliance Safety Group is open 8am – 5pm at 46 Barkly Highway, Mount Isa.
