Five Canberra rising stars have been picked to play for Australia at the under-19s Asian championships in China on the eve of their W-League season.

Young Matildas coach Gary van Egmond added Canberra United's Georgia Boric, Ellie Carpenter, Grace Maher, Georgia Plessas and Amy Sayer to his 23-strong squad.
They will play games against the Korea Republic, Japan and Vietnam in Nanjing from October 16-22.
The competition is pivotal to Australia as the top three teams will represent Asia in the FIFA under-20s women's World Cup in France next year.
"There are no easy games in Asia," van Egmond said.
"As we have seen historically the teams that have qualified through Asia have gone on to do quite well in the World Cup.
"Japan and DPR Korea have both had recent success internationally, so we are under no illusions as to how tough the competition will be."
The Young Matildas' flew to China on Tuesday and are set to play their first game against Korea Republic on Monday.
