Manager of the Mount Isa Family Support Service & Neighbourhood Centre, Chris Connors, said the locally run charity was able to purchase a new refrigerator, clothes dryer, table trolley, pressure cleaner, and line trimmer using the donated funds.
“We are extremely grateful for the assistance from Glencore,” Ms Connors said.
“The items purchased will make life safer and easier for our staff, volunteers, clients and venue hire guests.
“Normally we receive minimal operational funding from the Qld Department of Communities, and there is no money left over to purchase or replace items such as these.”
The Centre is available for venue hire, but the organisation also assists local people who are experiencing difficulties with referral, support, food vouchers, and small loans.
“Our charity has been helping the people of Mount Isa since 1979, and operated out of the Hilary Street Neighbourhood Centre for 25 years from 1989,” Ms Connors said.
“It is a delight to work from the wonderful new building at 72 Marian Street, and we invite locals and visitors to come in and have a look.”
