Eight-time All-Australian Ablett, who is poised to leave Gold Coast for Geelong during the AFL trade period, joined fellow Brownlow Medal winners Patrick Dangerfield and Nat Fyfe in the 17-man squad.
Reigning Brownlow and Norm Smith medallist Martin declined an invitation to play in November's two-Test home series, having led Richmond to a drought-breaking premiership.
Essendon youngster Conor McKenna is expected to be named alongside Gold Coast's Pearce Hanley and Geelong's Zach Tuohy in the Irish squad.
Ireland will not officially announce their squad until October 25 for the upcoming series, which kicks off in Adelaide on November 12, but the involvement of the trio will add spice to the two-Test series that concludes in Perth on November 18.
McKenna had a breakout season with the Bombers in 2017 and has already declared his desire to take part in the series.
The 21-year-old knocked back offers from several clubs to re-sign a four-year deal with the Bombers in September
The Gold Coast have given Hanley permission to play and he is keen to take part.
Hanley, who played 13 games for the Suns in 2017, has represented Ireland in 2011 and 2014.
Tuohy, who finished third in Geelong's best and fairest in his first season at the club, is understood to have a good relationship with Irish coach Joe Kernan and has played for Ireland previously.
Although Tuohy's involvement is yet to be officially confirmed, he is expected to be selected.
Kernan led the Irish to victory when the two countries last met at Croke Park in November 2015.
