But it might be the first of an ever-so-slowly increasing number of horses from Western Australia-based Peters' breeding and racing empire to trickle into Sydney with Star Exhibit to line up in a Winx-less Craven Plate at Randwick.

Looking for the easiest way for the Perth Cup winner to return west after an arduous year, Peters found a flight which leaves Sydney next week and thought the Darren Weir juggernaut could load another on the truck for the $500,000 group 3 race.

"We couldn't get him out of Melbourne and there was a plane booked to leave Sydney on Monday and I thought, 'we might as well go up there and have a race before we bring him home'," Peters said.

The Craven Plate, originally thought to be Winx's final Cox Plate lead-up instead of the Turnbull Stakes, suddenly has contenders emerging from everywhere given the darling of the Australian turf won't be the main act on $10 million The Everest day.

And Peters was only too happy to roll the dice with his Doomben Cup runner-up, which has endured a flat spring preparation including dumping Mark Zahra shortly after the gates were opened two starts back.

But drawing barrier six in a field of 12 means Star Exhibit should be one of the last horses into the stalls for the Craven Plate.

"They didn't load him the way they were supposed to [for the Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes] and he was the first horse in and as soon as that happened [I was worried]," Peters said. "The whole family is the same and they just don't have an attention span. He thought, 'I've had enough of this'.

"He should be one of the last to load on Saturday and they took a fair time to load the other day and he decided to do what he did at the wrong time.

"I think he's going OK. I haven't been that keen on him the last couple of runs and I don't think the field he was up against last time [in the JRA Cup] was the A-grade, but he got back and ran home. I've avoided the Caulfield Stakes as that will be too strong.

"He's been racing for a while. Things haven't gone well in the spring and he's not that type of big robust horse which is why we'll try to give him a break after this."
