Former Network Seven chairman Ian Holmes and his wife Anne have listed one of Palm Beach's best trophy homes in recent years, following their recent downsize to a $5.8 million pad on the Manly waterfront.

The Whale Beach Road double block was bought by the Holmes in 2000 for $7.8 million from fashion legend and philanthropist Peter Weiss, AM, and local architectural favourite Walter Barda was commissioned to design the pavilion-style Semloh Cove residence that was completed in 2014.

Set on a 1372 square metres of north-facing oceanfront reserve, it features views to Barrenjoey Lighthouse from the separate living areas, and includes a billiard room, mosaic-tiled pool, lift and a separate guest wing.
Given the $7.5 million estimated build and a land value of $8 million based on the recent sale of a block next door for $4 million earlier this year, LJ Hooker Palm Beach's David Edwards is asking between $15 million and $16 million.

Spring Racing Carnival ambassador-turned-Sky Racing presenter Victoria Samba will be busy in the lead-up to Derby Day on November 4 - not just because it's a big work day, but it's also the auction day for the Randwick home she owns with her husband, recruitment firm boss Mitch Hoare.
The couple bought the contemporary five-bedroom home with self-contained studio in late 2015 for $2.79 million, having sold their Rose Bay home at the time for $3.55 million.
Hoare, chief and founder of recruitment agency Mitch & Partners, is a former rugby union player, who played for the London Wasps before he moved to Sydney in 2002.
Jason Pantzer, of Phillips Pantzer Donnelley, has a $3 million to $3.3 million guide for the property.
Ad-man selling starring villa

The Italianate villa in Clovelly of ad-man Nick Richardson and his wife Tracy is also up for grabs through Jason Pantzer.
The grand 1890-built residence, Corralyn, is best known as the star of advertising campaigns by Cadbury, eHarmony, Kelloggs and Commonwealth Bank.
Such fame for the landmark Arden Street property only followed the Richardsons' purchase in 1996 for $660,000.
There was a subsequent renovation to the five-bedroom home and rear garden with a pool.
An October 28 auction is on the cards with a price guide of $3.8 million to $4 million.
Lim downsizing for the second time

Oceania Property's Julina Lim only bought the Vaucluse residence of venture capitalist John Grant two years ago for $12.85 million as a downsizer from her $28 million Point Piper mansion.
Maybe it was the gun-barrel Harbour Bridge views or the setting on the Hermitage Foreshore Walk that made her buy it, but the five-bedroom house with eight-car garaging was surely too big for one.

And Lim may agree, given she has returned it to the shelf with Ray White Double Bay's Elliott Placks for $17 million to $18 million.
Sources say the plan is to find something with more lock-up-and-leave appeal since she's spending more time in Indonesia.
Couple rethink Vaucluse plans

Lim's about-face comes as Westpac senior executive Michael Correa and his wife Heidi Carter likewise rethink plans for their house around the corner that they bought three years ago for $4.9 million from the former prima ballerina Darcey Bussell and her fund manager husband Angus Forbes.
The Federation arts and crafts residence scored Carter's stylist treatment as befits her PaddoToPalmy online label, and is set for a November 2 auction through Elliott Placks and his Ray White colleague Warren Ginsberg for $6.8 million.
The couple - or is that just Carter? - are regular purveyors of fine architecture, having commissioned architect Luigi Rosselli to redesign their Paddington terrace that was recently sold to Nudie Jeans' Bryce Alton for $6.2 million.
Despite Carter's recent Instagram post heaping praise on the renovation of real estate heir Sam White and his wife Kate's Rose Bay beachfront home by Weir Phillips Architecture and with Briony Fitzgerald interiors, the couple haven't forked out big for the trophy home.
Instead, they are hoping to buy in Watsons Bay.
Bullish sale for ex-banker

Former Deutsche Bank managing director Matt Milsom has scored a bullish almost $8 million for his Vaucluse home on beachfront reserve on Gibsons Beach.
A guide of $7 million had been touted by Gavin Rubinstein, of Ray White Double Bay, which was up from the $6.6 million Milsom and his wife Natascha paid for it in 2011 when sold by golf champion Michael Campbell and his wife Julie.
Sources say it was a local buyer, but given no comment on the deal by Rubinstein it will be left until settlement to fill in their identity.
New York move prompts listing

Lou Pirenc's promotion to global head of research at Morgan Stanley in New York, has left the Vaucluse home he owns with wife Samantha Pirenc Bright ready for an October 30 auction. It's a listing that shouldn't be missed by heiress Deborah Symond and her fiance Ned O'Neil, who were underbidders when the Flitcroft family sold their home a few doors away for $7 million.
The home has had a Hampton's style renovation undertaken by the Pirencs since they bought the property a decade ago for $3,785,000 from lawyer Sidney Adams.
Ray White's Rubinstein is asking about $6.75 million.
Pair uprooting

Richard Haigh, owner of the Woollahra landscaping and retailer Parterre Garden, is selling his Randwick home given plans to upgrade.
Haigh and his wife Kristin have owned the Stewart Street house with a pool since 2013, paying $1.48 million, giving the interiors and the north-facing garden the Parterre-style treatment since.
Georgia Cleary, of Bradfield Cleary, is asking $2.6 million ahead of the October 30 auction.
Glebe terrace on the market

Philosopher emeritus professor David Armstrong - regarded as one of last century's most influential thinkers and to the academics punters for his work in metaphysics and externalist epistemology - died in 2014, leaving his Glebe home of 34 years to his widow Jenny Clark.
Having lived on in the family home since, Clark, a social worker at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for many years, is relocating to be nearer to family, prompting it to be listed the terrace with David Servi, of First National Spencer & Servi.
It goes to auction on October 28 for $2.6 million to $2.8 million.
