“Canberra is the heart of our nation and is a remarkable bush city,” Minister for Local Government and Territories, Fiona Nash, said.
“Brick by Brick encourages children and their families to learn more about Australia’s capital and explore what they would want to see in the Canberra of tomorrow.”
Mount Isa Councillor Jean Ferris said the exhibition is aimed at primary school students but is sure to be popular with visitors of all ages.
“Lego has long been a favourite activity for children and parents alike,” Cr Ferris said.
“I’ve no doubt this exhibition will inspire our future builders, architects and engineers.
“The Brick by Brick exhibition will also help connect North West Queensland to our nation’s capital, Canberra, which is important to all Australians as the home to our Federal Parliament.”
The touring exhibition is designed for children from four years of age and is suitable for a range of abilities.
It teaches them to build iconic structures like Parliament House and the National Carillon using construction sheets.
Brick by Brick: Build Your Own Capital officially opens to the public at Mount Isa City Library, 23 West Street on October 20 at 11am, and is open until January 21, 2018.
