Cheika has made just one change to the Wallabies starting XV that beat Argentina in Mendoza, with Rob Simmons replacing young second-rower Izack Rodda, who has had shoulder surgery.

Hunt had expressed his hunger at getting a shot to take on the All Blacks for the first time in his Test career.

He took no part in the Rugby Championship and had been plying his trade with Brisbane City in the National Rugby Championship.

Cheika has opted for five forwards and three backs on his bench. Nick Phipps will be the team's back-up halfback, while Samu Kerevi and Henry Speight have been given the green light over Hunt, one of Australia's standout performers in the June series.

"Last week they [Kerevi and Speight] did the job for us," Cheika said. "Karmichael has got a game-and-a-half under his belt but I think to go [at] this pace, he probably needs another game or two just to get him up to speed.

"He'll play NRC on the weekend and then he'll be involved ... in the Wallabies team versus the Barbarians."

Cheika confirmed Wallabies stalwart Stephen Moore will get a home-town farewell in Brisbane against the All Blacks on Saturday.

After speculation as to whether Moore, a veteran of 124 Tests, would get an opportunity to farewell Australian fans in the final Bledisloe Cup match of the year, Cheika has shown faith in the 34-year-old.

After relinquishing the Wallabies captaincy in July, Moore is set to retire from international rugby at the end of the year. No decision has been made on whether he go on the end of year tour to Japan and Europe.

"The way performances have panned out, this is the right type of selection for this game," Cheika said. "Starting, finishing, as long as he's out there doing his best in his last Test in Brisbane than I'm sure he's going to make the most of it.

"He's come out of his skin and he's quite excited for the game. It's going to be a great opportunity for him."

Tatafu Polota-Nau is the team's starting hooker in a tight-five that remains the same from the side's last win against Argentina, save for the inclusion of Simmons.

Simmons started in the second row during the last encounter between the teams in Dunedin and Cheika believes he has much more to offer in a gold jersey.

"I think I may have been telling him the wrong thing before to get him going," Cheika said. "I've adjusted my dialogue with him. [I want to] get him to be his best self on the field. I think he's got a heap more to give. He's got a lot of improvement still."

The All Blacks confirmed star five-eighth Beauden Barrett will miss the match due to a concussion he suffered against the Springboks in Cape Town.

Lima Sopoaga will step into the No.10 role and Cheika refuted suggestions New Zealand would be more vulnerable without last year's World Rugby player of the year.

"You saw what Sopoaga did in the game last week in the back half when it was on the line, he managed it well," Cheika said. "I know the quality he brings in the game. He'll be a different proposition to Barrett but no less dangerous. They're a quality outfit. That victory in South Africa was quality. They managed it perfectly."

The Wallabies will be looking to snap a seven-game losing streak against the All Blacks, who have already retained the Bledisloe Cup for a 15th consecutive year after a 20-point victory in Sydney and a six-point win in Dunedin.
