The yardstick for this award is the tourism products, experiences and services VICs offer with evidence of a commitment to excellence.
McKinlay Shire Council Mayor Belinda Murphy said this was an outstanding achievement.
“VICs are on the frontline of tourism. We strongly encourage our guests to make our VIC their first port of call when arriving in Julia Creek so our friendly local staff can imbue their enthusiasm and knowledge for local and regional tourism products and experiences,” she said.
The Julia Creek VIC was also runner up in the marketing award for campaigns such as the online video, “We know just the place”.
Other marketing campaigns include the VIC’s social media outlets which have a collective following of nine times the town’s population.
“We try every single day to strive for excellence across customer service, marketing, planning and by offering authentic experiences so to be recognised in a state-wide award is very humbling,” McKinlay Shire’s Tourism Coordinator, Georgia Fleming said.
