The North West Breast Cancer Support Group will benefit to the tune of $8500 from fundraising efforts by the all-women committee.
The five card race day and annual breast cancer luncheon was well attended to support the work of the important Mount Isa-based support group.
Breast Cancer Race Day committee member, Mel Goddard See, said it was important that they donate the money to a local cause.
“Mount Isa Race Club holds this annual event, usually in the members bar, but we decided to make it a bit bigger this year and see if we could raise some additional funds to go back into our own community here locally,” Ms See said.
Women of Mount Isa embraced the important cause with a stunning array of outfits in at least 50 shades of pink.
Cream, blush, and mint were popular choices too, with a fair few feminine florals to boot.
Guests paid $100 per ticket and enjoyed a two course set menu with bottomless bubbles and a dessert and candy bar.
The excitable atmosphere was palpable, with live music from the powerhouse sisters, Sonia and Sabrina Gasio Seitula.
Tables were decked out with little bottles of pink champagne, miniature bird cage centre pieces, and pink chair ribbons.
Natural Beauty and Medi Clinic had a pamper bar to add to the fun, while the bubbles bar in the astro-turfed ‘garden’ area dished out regular refreshments.
For anyone not attending the luncheon, all the usual fun of Mount Isa Races was waiting for them on the green.
