Ugrinic tasted success in his first year winning the 2014 title and has decided to finish on a high after defeating Canberra Olympic in the grand final last month.

After all three senior grades won the grand final Ugrinic said he knew it was the perfect time to step aside.

"Coaching is just becoming more demanding now that is has more of a profile with the NPL and FFA Cup and it can be energy-sapping and draining," Ugrinic said.

"I wasn't sure if I had the motivation to go again and came to the realization I couldn't give 100 per cent anymore and just thought what better way to end it then now, I couldn't have dreamed of leaving in a better way."

United has promoted under-20 coaching Peter Mazis and Marko Perinovic to the top job with the duo gunning for an NPL record in Canberra next season.

Over the past five seasons the pair have won a titles in every age group and next year will attempt to make it a perfect six from six in their crack at senior coaching.

"We haven't coached a first team, we played for Canberra City in the national league days so we've played first grade for a long but never coached it, it should be an eye-opener," Mazis said.

"We're not doing it to create records, we were happy with our lot developing youth but this opportunity came up so we thought we'd have a crack."

Belconnen have also secured the services of former Socceroos coach Ron Smith who will take on a mentoring role at the club next season.
