Fiddling while Rome burns
Paul Syvret, a nemesis to my economic understanding, has undergone a Damascene conversion,it would seem with an instructive “lights on” treatise on Annastacia Palaszczuk's ALP dangerous game on energy policy in Queensland (Courier Mail, October 24).

State ALP ministers (not much better than the feckless LNP) appear clueless on running a taxpayer cheque book, but have many disastrous voodoo economic solutions using yours.
A bright spark still flickered inside Paul Syvret, writing brilliantly who when he removes his ideological galssess fesses up to the bleeding obvious facing the sick/poor/aged/powerless who continue to struggle on a diet of energy poverty, due largely to AGW devotees operating evangelical renewable energy target policy both at state and federal levels.
Palaszczuk/Pitt/Trad are waking up to the real world of energy electoral pain, their group think “leotard triumphalism” being shirt-fronted with spiralling debt/deficit.
As an election sweetener, a clueless / desperate Palaszczuk Government has offered energy customers $50 a year rebates, big deal, and subsidies for the regional energy users which already gets tariff equalisation subsidies of $670 million a year.
Peter Beattie, the former George Formby of Australian politics, sold off the retail side of Energex, triumphantly assuring voters this would inevitably lead to putting downward pressure on electricity pricing, right.
After The ALP won the last State election, Ms Palaszczuk was given riding instructions by its union masters Vis-a -vis Union Force/CFMEU who dished out the Ministerial guernseys to set up the way it will be. Around $4.6 billion of red ink was immediately "despatched" to the bottom lines of energy companies, gouged from your bill to make the day to day accounts look swisho.
The adding of nearly 17,000 public servants requires actuarial entitlement funding of $1.6 billion.
This figure should have been preserved for vital prioritised infrastructure spending.
Much of this money has been reaped by the state-owned generators Stanwell &C.S.Energy engaged in Casino mentality aggressive wholesale energy price bidding in the National Energy Market, the bonanza largesse tossed into consolidated revenue to continue ALP'S profligate ways.
The Federal Government's NEG regulatory framework is being thrashed out, sadly with the Paris windbags’ obsession with carbon dioxide emissions reductions of 40% a priority.
Ms Palaszczuk has in mind a 50% diabolical RET, even more ridiculous, an economic suicide note, especially here in the North.
We have a delirium of fiscality happening right in front of us .
Different state RET targets combined with a shortage of national gas supplies, exacerbated by all political parties including PHON joining the Lock the gate campaign on gas reserves, enabling carpetbagging corporate renewables’ cabals to gorge out on massive profits whilst grieving Ma and Pa Citizen watch on in total dismay, impoverished by the Amish ideological posturing of wealthy elected politicians. And yes,Rome still burns, with the lights barely flickering.
Pray, just where are you, Spartacus?
