The night acknowledges student achievement in sport for 2017 and the school’s theme for this year was “reaching new heights”.
The school said the reaching new heights theme reminded students that it didn’t matter where you came from, or who you were - as long as you were dedicated and committed, you could strive to achieve your goals.
The night was a huge success, and the school was extremely proud of all of the award recipients.
One of the highlights was a heartwarming video message to the students from North Queensland Cowboys Rugby league star, and Mount Isa local, Coen Hess.
Hess, a former student of Good Shepherd Catholic College, spoke about his development in Rugby League starting from his early years in Mount Isa.
His inspiring advice to students was to encourage them to dream big and believe in themselves and strive to continue to achieve excellence in the sporting arena.
The school offered congratulations to all award recipients, but in particular, to those students who received special awards such as the Sportsman and Sportswoman of the year.

The night involved the support of many people. The school thanked all presenters and announcers for their contribution.
“In particular, we must acknowledge the College Administration Team, and other members of the College staff, in particular, the HPE staff for their support in organising this event,” they said.
“Most importantly, to Amy Webb who assisted with the organisation, Jade Marinelli who organised the performance on the night, and Tracey Stringer for her amazing hospitality. To the parents and caregivers who joined with us, this was the best attendance we have had yet.”
