The Greens have proposed a $1 flat public transport fare, free travel for children and have recycled their council campaign promise for green bridges across the Brisbane River at Toowong, Teneriffe and Kangaroo Point.

While that would meansa loss of fare revenue of $56 million each year, the Greens argued it could be funded by revenue from extra government charges on property developers as land improved in value and from an increase in mining royalties.
Both major parties have already examined the idea of installing new pedestrian, bikes and bus bridges and the Greens released a similar, well-received policy at the 2016 Brisbane City Council election.
While the Greens would almost certainly not win government, the minor party was aiming to win its first seat in Queensland's new 93-seat Parliament and hoped its ideas would encourage more people out of cars and on to public transport.
In Queensland 23 per cent of the cost of providing public transport came from fares.
The Greens' South Brisbane candidate, Amy McMahon, said the key part of the plan was to recognise that public transport was too expensive.
"As a result, a lot of people are using their cars instead of using public transport," she said.
"It shouldn't be cheaper to drive your car into the city for example than to catch a bus."
Ms McMahon said the Greens would pay for the changes by asking property developers and mining companies to pay more to help fund public transport.
"We have calculated that collectively this would raise around $4 billion, which could be invested in critical infrastructure, like public transport," she said.
Ms McMahon said Brisbane needed more bridges for bikes, pedestrians and cars.
"We are a river city and we need good connections across the rivers," she said.
The Greens estimate their policy would cost $216 million each year.
The party planned to scrap most zones in south-east Queensland and charge just $1 per zone travelled.
Those zones would be:
- Zone ???1: ???Brisbane.
- Zone ???2: ???Redlands, ???Logan, ???Ipswich, ???Somerset, ???Sunshine ???Coast, ???Moreton ???Bay.
- Zone ???3: ???Gold ???Coast, ???Scenic ???Rim, ???Lockyer ???Valley.
- Zone ???4: ???Noosa, ???Gympie, ???Toowoomba.
Under the current scheme there were eight zones in south-east Queensland.
Concession fares would be removed as part of the proposal.
A Greens-led government would also build pedestrian, cycling and bus bridges at the following locations:
- between Toowong and West End ($105 million)
- between Kangaroo Point and Eagle Street ($60 million) and
- between Commercial Drive at Teneriffe and Oxford Street at Bulimba ($200 million)
It would also add more frequent bus services and redirect bus routes.
The Greens would also spend $150 million on cycling over five years, including $6 million on separation barriers in the CBD, which the party said would impact less than 1 per cent of parking spaces.
Barriers were also proposed along the Eleanor ???Schonell ???Bridge ???to ???Lady ???Cilento ???Hospital ???along ???Annerley ???Road, ??????along ???Kedron ???Brook ???Road, from Buranda ???to ???Coorparoo ???through ???Stones ???Corner and along Vulture ???Street, ???from ???West ???End ???to ???Woolloongabba.
