“I get angry at the constant attacks on an industry which provides jobs, training and educational opportunities and it brings in massive wealth for our state.”
Ms Slade said if elected she would be a champion for mining not just in parliament but across Queensland. “I want to encourage, promote and defend this industry but if it is not doing the right thing I will use my influence to encourage a change for the better," she said.
“When elected I will meet with the Resources Council, trade unions, Native Title groups, councils, and interested parties to see how our industry can prosper.”
Ms Slade said the Green movement was entitled to its views but would not allow this great industry to be closed down or have impediments placed on it.
“We need to promote the benefits of what mining means to Queensland and the world and if it means taking on these groups and individuals then let me make my position clear,” she said.
