Hundreds of locals celebrated the festive season early at the St Joseph’s Mount Isa Christmas Fair on Friday November 3.

A surprise visit from Santa Claus kicked off the afternoon as the merriment of the holiday spirit continued into the evening.
Many popular stalls were on display including the International Food Stall, a second hand book stall, jumping castles, face painting, cupcake decorating, cake and sweet stall, cake competition, tombola’s, games, food, drink and Santa’s Workshop.
Live performances kept the crowd entertained with an inaugural appearance being made from local dance group the Sundowners Aboriginal Dance Troupe, St Joseph’s Band, Best of Brass performance, Viv Edwards and many local dance groups.
School principal, Helen Wade, said the event was the biggest annual fundraiser for the P & F Committee and this year was no different being a huge success.
“Funds this year are going towards upgrading technology for the students to further their education and technological studies,” Ms Wade said.
