Mr Katter was one of four of the candidates present at the ballot draw in Mount Isa on Tuesday but he did not wish to comment.
All three of the other candidates present spoke to the North West Star after the ballot.
The LNP’s Ron Bird said he was quite happy with the draw, coming at number 2 behind Mr Katter.
“People will make their own decisions, they don’t always do the donkey vote,” Mr Bird said.
Labor’s Danielle Slade had an unfavourable draw at five but she said it didn’t matter where she was drawn.
“I think most people on the day when they walk in will have their mind made up,” Ms Slade said.
“They’ll know who they are voting for, I’m happy with five.”
Independent candidate Craig Scriven was drawn number three in the ballot.
“I’m actually pretty happy with being drawn number three,” Mr Scriven said.
“For the people who are really into politics, they won’t have to chase us down but for the people who go one to six I’m in third place,” Mr Scriven said.
“I’m running as an independent and I’m running an open ticket, no how to vote cards or anything like that.”
Pre-poll starts 9am Monday, November 13 and closes 6pm Friday, November 24 with the election itself to be held on Saturday, November 25. Pre poll offices in the North West are Camooweal Post office, Cloncurry Shire Hall, Normanton Shire Hall and 119 Camooweal Street, Mount Isa.
A reminder also that the North West Star and the ABC will be hosting a Traeger candidate forum in Mount Isa on Tuesday November 21.
