A 32-year-old woman from Larapinta, who cannot be named for legal reasons, allegedly punched the man in the head, causing him to fall and hit his head on a cement driveway.
On Tuesday the case was mentioned in Mount Isa Magistrate’s Court, where her lawyer asked that she be excused.
“She is on bail and in regular contact,” he said.
Mount Isa District Criminal Investigation Unit objected to bail after the woman was first due to appear on September 28, two days after the alleged incident.
At that time, Mount Isa Magistrates Court heard that she was in the mental health ward at Mount Isa Hospital.
Police allege that at around 8.15pm on Tuesday September 26, an argument broke out between her and the man at his residence in Railway Street, Cloncurry.
The man was transported to the Mount Isa Hospital where he later died from serious head injuries.
The police prosecution’s brief of evidence is yet to be disclosed, including medical statements and records.
The case has been adjourned until December 19 at Mount Isa Magistrates Court.
