On November 16, McKinlay Police were visible as a part of Operation Safe Speeds, a national road safety campaign to address speeding on roads.
McKinlay Police enforced speed limits with speed detection equipment on the Landsborough Highway, McKinlay, monitoring 43 vehicles who passed by police while maintaining the correct speed.
Local police officer, Senior Constable Des Hansson, Officer in Charge of McKinlay, praised the driving skills of tourists and professional drivers alike, for their ability and respect for small town speed limits.
“The highway through McKinlay is used by lots of tourists and professional drivers passing through on their journey, and I am impressed to speed check every vehicle, every driver was doing the right thing, and I’d like to say thanks,” Senior Constable Hansson said.
