A ReachTEL poll shows Labor's candidate Ali King and Mr Emerson split 50-50 on two-party preferred in the seat of Maiwar, which covers suburbs including Mount Coot-tha, Indooroopilly and St Lucia.

The poll, commissioned by action group GetUp!, puts the Greens' candidate Michael Berkman in third place on the first preference vote, with 17.7 per cent, which would not allow them to snag the seat.

Mr Emerson had 41.8 per cent, Ms King was at 27.9 per cent, while 9.7 per cent of the 627 Maiwar voters surveyed on November 13 said they were undecided.

Mr Emerson, the LNP's shadow treasurer, said he had been getting a very strong level of support at pre-polling booths, which he attended all week.

"I always said it would be a tough fight, given the change of the boundaries and Labor's trashing of the Fitzgerald Inquiry with the changes to the voting system [to compulsory preferential voting, where people must number every box]," he said.

"Our policies are very clear and we've been getting a very strong, positive reaction."

Mr Emerson, who currently holds the seat of Indooroopilly with a margin to the LNP of 6.7 per cent, will be contesting the redrawn seat of Maiwar at the November 25 election, which has a margin of 3 per cent to LNP.

Mr Berkman said the Greens had knocked on more than 16,000 doors and believed they were only a couple of hundred votes away from winning the seat.

"The message we're hearing is that people are fed up with Labor and the LNP and want to vote for a genuine alternative," he said.

An Essential Research poll of 662 people gave the Greens a better chance in Maiwar, with 41 per cent to the LNP, 23 per cent to Labor, 24 per cent to Greens and 11 per cent unsure.

The electorate of Indooroopilly was once held by Greens member Ronan Lee, after he defected from Labor in 2008, although he lost against Mr Emerson at the 2009 election.

Labor's candidate, Ms King, said she believed her campaign was going really well, she had spoken to lots of people in Maiwar about the issues that mattered to them and received lots of fantastic feedback.

"I try not to pay too much attention to polls," she said.

Ms King said people had told her they were worried about One Nation holding the balance of power in the Parliament, and they did not want public funding to go to Adani.

Labor Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said she would veto a $1 billion Northern Australian Infrastructure Facility concessional loan to Adani for its Carmichael coal mine, while LNP leader Tim Nicholls said the party would support it.

Griffith University political scientist Paul Williams said he believed Mr Emerson would hold on but he was going to be in for a fight.

"This might be his biggest challenge since his first poll, coming into the seat as an unknown [in 2009]," Dr Williams said.

At the 2015 election, Mr Emerson received 50 per cent of the first preference count in Indooroopilly, compared with the 41.8 per cent he could get in Maiwar, as suggested by the ReachTEL poll.

"Labor would be buoyed by that result," Dr Williams said.

"The fact that Labor is at least competitive in that seat, they'd be happy with, and building on a good week for Labor - I think Labor has won the third week."

Dr Williams said Adani and the LNP listing One Nation higher than Labor in 49 seats on its how-to-vote cards would be an issue for some Maiwar voters.

The ReachTEL poll also asked: "What do you think is a better use of public money: lending $1 billion to Adani to build a railway to its proposed coal mine, or lending $1 billion to renewable energy projects?"

Almost three out of 10 Maiwar voters chose the NAIF loan to Adani, while seven in 10 would prefer loans to renewable energy.

GetUp! Queensland campaigner Ellen Roberts said the LNP should listen to people on the issue of Adani.

"These results clearly show Queenslanders don't want the state government to hand over $1 billion of public funds to the Adani corporation," she said.

With almost one in 10 voters in Maiwar undecided, GetUp! members planned to talk to residents about the Adani loan until election day.

Another question in the poll asked: "The LNP have made a deal to preference One Nation in 80 per cent of the seats they're running in. Will this make you more or less likely to vote for the LNP?"

It resulted in 20.9 per cent of Maiwar voters polled saying more likely, 41.9 per cent saying less likely and 37.2 per cent saying they would not change their vote.

Mr Nicholls has said there were no deals with One Nation, no shared ministry and no coalition, and there were no good choices with preferences.

"We've made recommendations, they are free to follow those recommendations or not," Mr Nicholls said this week.
