He should in a display of his own intestinal fortitude, if any, nominate for State or Federal election and show the people he is more than a nattering nabob of negativity.

Reserve parking for voters
On Saturday we will be required to vote in the state elcction.
Last time we voted I drove around looking for a close by parking space to avoid walking due to a recent operation.
Eventually I needed to park along the street opposite the polling at Sunset School. Thinking it would be busy when I eventually reached the polling booth there was no one else in there voting.
Yet all of the spaces along the street were taken - could this be by the people handing out the How-to-Vote cards?
Would it be possible for some parking spaces to be kept vacant for people to park and to cast their vote?

Mines should purchase locally
What gets measured gets done. I have a lot of fresh ideas and a different perspective. I have worked in the mining industry for 25 years and I’ve learned much in that time.
Just one good purchasing officer can save a company millions of dollars a year. They develop relationships, local opportunities with local and regional Queensland businesses and will negotiate and source quotes for goods and services on price and quality.
Any mine granted a mining lease in our North West Mineral Province would have undertaken a commitment in some form to support local and Queensland businesses for jobs, goods and services.
With so many mining companies coming on line locally and having their head offices interstate, it’s a concern procurement functions could also be based interstate.
There is a fantastic opportunity for Capricorn Copper, 125 km outside Mount Isa, with the work commissioned and operations due to come on line. The company has said there would be a focus on development for employees and suppliers. “Once in steady state operations, Capricorn Copper expects to maintain an operating workforce of 220 full time employees, and has a strong focus on developing opportunities for employees and suppliers within the North West region”.
Last week MMG had their official opening. Their Mission Statement is “We mine to create wealth for our people, host communities and shareholders”.
South 32’s Cannington Mine changed hands in recent years. Previous owners BHP had a proven track record of being a huge support to its local communities, but since South 32 has taken over, their procurement is now based in WA, a huge concern.
Glencore has also recently retrenched its entire procurement team and have contracted an off shore/interstate company to handle their procurement.
We need a commitment from any mine they will have their procurement team if not local, within our state. As your member, I would be keen and excited to promote these potential success stories, and their shared journey with local people, industry and the businesses of Traeger.
