At 4.30am this morning (November 22), 120 head of cattle were reported congregating outside the Overlander Hotel.
Keen for a Ovi-sesh, the Brahman weaners were soon interrupted by the local authorities who mustered them back to a nearby paddock beside the Barkly Highway.
Acting Sergeant, Andrew Lloyd-Jones, said he was unsure of how the cattle made their way to the pub, but assumed they pushed through a nearby fence.
“The cattle made residence at the Overlander carpark and police were concerned for the safety of the public and the welfare of the animals,” he said.
“As far as I could see the cattle had no identification branded on them and the matter has since been handed over the the Mount Isa City Council.”
Sergeant Lloyd-Jones said investigations were not continuing from a police perspective, but council would work to identify the owner.
