Local police woman and lead singer, Cath Purcell, is excited to release the band’s first single: ‘Who do you want to be?’ which was written about domestic violence seen through the eyes of a policewoman working in outback Australia.
“It focuses on a police officers experiences with domestic violence and a to convey the message choose who you want to be,” Ms Purcell said.
“We wanted to keep challenging ourselves and keep conveying the message and we couldn’t do that without recording the song.”
The band first performed the song during an opening set for Troy Cassar-Daley in Mount Isa in August, and has since recorded the song through Paradox Productions studio.
Ms Purcell said the whole band travelled to Brisbane to record their debut single.
“None of us had ever done that before, so it was interesting to be in a studio and see how it all worked.
“Once we had the recording, we decided to create a lyrical video to help us share it across social media platforms.”
The band is made up of emergency services and defence personnel and they have decided to donate funds from the song to Soldier On.
“This money will go towards helping service men and women, access the support they may need should they have been affected by service,” Ms Purcell said.
“PTSD is something that can affect us, our colleagues, friends and family at anytime. It is something they don’t have all the answers for yet but can really affected personnel.
“Therefore the profits made from our song on iTunes will go towards that organisation.”
The single is available to purchase on iTunes on Saturday November 25.
