Screening at Outback at Isa at 7pm, this unique showcase shares films about the popular and sometimes extreme sport of trail running.
Organiser Alison Whitehead is no stranger to trail running, but says there are films to inspire us all in this international collection.
“While the films are about trail running, I think anyone who comes to see them will leave here full of inspiration and motivation,” Ms Whitehead said.
“The beautiful landscapes and some of the stories told, brought me to tears when I had a quick preview.”
One story is centred on an 89-year-old man who is passionate about the sport of trail running, and has a dream to be the oldest person to compete.
“There’s stories about young people, stories about old people, stories about people doing a five-day run trek by themselves through amazing country in Canada,” Ms Whitehead said.
“I think it makes you sit down and realise that what you can achieve, you just have to put your mind to it.
“It’s really open to anyone who has a sporting interest or is interested in film-making, because the footage is amazing.”
Mount Isa is the final Australian screening of the festival, which toured all the major cities of Australia from July to October this year.
“It is extremely rare that we get to enjoy these festivals in the bush, so I am really excited,” Ms Whitehead said.
The festival is run by the organisers of Ultra Trail Australia, which 25 Mount Isa runners will take on next year in the Blue Mountains.
Adult tickets are $32 and the films run for approximately two hours, with a 15 minute intermission.
“We have a projector screen at Outback at Isa, so come and sit in the air conditioning and get inspired for an evening,” Ms Whitehead said.
Tickets need to be purchased online, via the Facebook event or the Eventbrite website: www.eventbrite.com.au/e/trails-in-motion-mount-isa-tickets
