A complainant summons will hear two charges against Campbell Lloyd Pattison, who allegedly carried out illegal gold mining at Star Cross Station, Selwyn.
There is one count of entering or being upon land to carry on mining without being the holder of the relevant authority or being otherwise duly authorised under the Mineral Resources Act or any other Act relating to mining, in contravention of s402(1)(a) of the Mineral Resources Act 1989; and
There is also one count of carrying on mining operations upon or removing mineral or ore from land without being duly authorised under the Mineral Resources Act or any other Act relating to mining, in contravention of s402(1)(d) of the Mineral Resources Act 1989.
The court will hear of an eight month investigation conducted by the Department of Natural Mining and Resources and Queensland Police that saw Mr Pattison mine 54 ounces of gold between November 2016 and February 2017 valued at between $85,000 and $140,000.
